Karim Mussi launches the Alandes Paradoux Blend Blanc de Blancs II Edition

The Alandes Winery, located in Maipú, is one of the most important projects of Karim Mussi Saffie. Along with his partners, he found this beautiful centenarian winery (1904) and they used it for the development of new brands and styles. They don’t have the restriction of producing wines with grapes that come from a specific soil.

“At Altocedro Winery, we aim to make wines that express the sense of belonging in La Consulta, while at Alandes, we have more freedom regarding the origin of the grapes that we use to make wine, they come from different wine regions of the province,” says Karim Mussi Saffie about this project. Each label of Alandes is inspired by a unique concept that represents an absolute freedom, a Laissez-faire wine philosophy that spreads with no limits through a large territory.

At the winery, you can visit the old house of the Cerutti family, where now it’s the Wine Cellar of Karim Mussi; there you can taste and know all the wines of the projects of the winemaker (Altocedro, Alandes and Abras) as well as the exclusive wines for the visitors.

“Paradoux Blend” Blanc de Blancs is one of the new gems of Mussi, who says the following: “We had already made our red ‘Paradoux’ as a classic Bordeaux blend, and since we had a lot of old Sémillon in La Consulta, we decided to make a white Bordeaux version of the ‘Paradoux.’ In this occasion, we also used Sauvignon Blanc from the other side of the Tunuyán River. Apart from the characteristic beauty of the blend where both varietals have always complemented each other perfectly, we thought it was a better way to value this blend that is so traditional and has a greater aging capacity. That’s why its fermentation and later aging in barrels provide a classic and elegant character, which is not actually a current trend.”

This wine is made of Sémillon (66%) and Sauvignon Blanc (34%). Both vineyards are located in Uco Valley. The wine remained 14 months in French oak barrels.

Recently, Alandes Paradoux Blanc de Blancs II Edition won the prestigious contest called “Tasting Vinos Blancos 2018” (“Tasting White Wines 2018”). This competition is held in Mar del Plata and awards the best wines of Argentina through a blind tasting.
