Alandes is one of the projects of Karim Mussi. Its name comes from a combination of words in Spanish that means “wines made throughout the Andes.” Along with his partners, Mussi found this beautiful centenarian winery located in Maipú and they used it for the development of new brands and styles. They don’t have the restriction of producing wines with grapes that come from a specific soil, as it is the case with other brands that he owns. Each label of Alandes is influenced by a unique concept that represents an absolute freedom, a Laissez-fairewine philosophy that spreads with no limits through a large territory.
Alandes Uco Valley Malbec 2017
"Alandes Uco Valley” was a huge wine challenge. We wanted to make a 100% Malbec wine throughout the Uco Valley. The wine was produced with grapes from six different vineyards: Los Arboles, Los Chacayes, Vista Flores, Campo los Andes and two vineyards from La Consulta. The blend allowed us to make a Malbec with the characteristic style and character of the region.A 70% of the blend is aged in French barrels.“I think it’s a wine with a really defined identity,” says Karim Mussi. “What is exciting about Alandes is the freedom to choose the origin of the grapes, they come from different wine regions; the limit is the Andes Mountains and our imagination,” adds the winemaker. Karim and his team are already working in the exponent of the Calchaquí Valley that will be released soon in the market.
