Last Saturday 11th March we celebrated our annual DINNER WITH KARIM MUSSI, held in our centenary winery in Maipú, ALANDES. The spirit behind this particular annual event is to welcome our Wine Club members who travel from different parts of the country as also from Brazil, to attend this gathering where they have the chance to taste in Avant Première the new members of our Jardín de los Caprichos collection. In this ocassion, was the introduction of # Caprichos 21 and # 23. At the same time, they enjoyed a beautiful evening with Lebanese food, live music and some surprises in this magical night. A special event organised by our Wine Club manager, Luciana Ríos Carné.
PRESENTATION OF CAPRICHOS #21 AND #23 IN AVANT PREMIÈRE | The story behind each story.
As it is a tradition, Karim introduced the new labels of our latest Caprichos, recently bottled.
This time, we had the joy of presenting our FIRST CAPRICHO from PATAGONIA, CAPRICHO #21, a blend of Merlot (34%), Cab. Sauvignon (33%) and Malbec (33%) from vineyards located in the Alto Valle of Río Negro province, particularly in Cipolletti. A blend with character, aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
Our inspiration behind this label came from its origin; the history associated with the place, such as the importance for the region of the historical figure, the engineer C. Cipolletti, responsible for the hydraulic works carried out at the end of the 19th century, which were key for the development of the area. Some of the images we looked at were those of the construction of the Ballester Dam, which main purpose was to give birth to the integral irrigation system of the Upper Valley of the Río Negro and the Lower Valley of the Neuquén River and to attenuate river floods, allowing the advance of urbanisation and agricultural production on the natural plains of the valley.
We also look at the photographs of those first trains arriving in the area, with the advance of the railway. The train as a symbol of progress.
In short, there were several elements that nourished our design. We also wanted to pay tribute to our collaborators and partners there, Sebastián Zapata and the Rastrilla family, by including them on the label as the makers of this wine.
CAPRICHO 23, on the other hand, was a tribute to our beloved winemaker, Laura Olguín, who was directly involved in the winemaking of this wine, choosing the final blend. Another element that served as a great inspiration was the "spicy" component of the wine, being the descriptor shared by the two varieties that are part of this blend: Syrah (66%) and Cab. Sauvignon (34%), a complex and in-depth wine, aged for 18 months in barrels.
TRADITIONAL LEBANESE FOOD
Once again, Leyla Mussi and her team delighted the guests with their exquisite dishes of traditional Lebanese food. A great diversity of flavours, aromas and colours dressed each table, where the guests were able to enjoy a tasty menu accompanied by an exclusive selection of our signature wines.
LIVE MUSIC
The evening was accompanied by live music, where a varied repertoire of jazz, bossa and more, was performed by great local musicians, led by Omar Brizzuela on guitar. The pearl of this show was the participation of our head of mkt and communication, Majo Peroni, this time in her role as a singer, performing several jazz, boleros and bossa songs.
Once again, our Wine Club members were able to enjoy an exclusive evening, have access to our new Caprichos in avant première, and share a beautiful experience being part of this wonderful community.
Big thanks to our Wine Club, Cava and Communication team for the organisation and management of this special and coveted event!.
