Abras has now three product lines, Abras Torrontés, Abras Malbec and Abras Camino Real. This winery is the first chapter of a long story that began when Mussi felt in love with Cafayate, cradle of Torrontés and great Malbecs, a desert located at 5741 feet above sea level (1750 meters). The grapes are picked from vines of more than 30 years old, planted on alluvial soils in the bottom of the Valley, obtaining a real local expression.
Just like the Incas used coves (Abras) as roads to walk through the mountains, Karim Mussi and his team seized these portals to access the wonderful world of the Calchaquí Valleys’ wines. These coves allowed the creation of a famous road that the Spanish conquerors used in order to connect the capital Lima with the Buenos Aires port and transport valuable items through what they called “Camino Real” (Royal Road).
This blend represents an “offering” to those that appreciate the noble beauty of the wines from Salta, and invite you to travel along these lands with a wine that combines various grape varieties from this unique terroir, trying to achieve the best wine expression of the Valley.
Abras Camino Real is made of Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Tannat (30 %) and Malbec (30%), and aged 18 months in French oak barrels.
